The name is Watson, Joan Watson. Lucy Liu is set to play Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick in CBS’ drama pilot Elementary, whose tweaks to Arthur Connan Doyle’s classic include switching Watson’s gender to female. The project, written by Robert Doherty, is set in present day and stars Jonny Lee Miller as eccentric Brit...
i am forever hungry
during my break i ate a bowl of pasta with chili and some greek yogurt with granola. i came home and ate a chili dog with spinach and kettlecorn. now i’m eating apple slices with peanut butter. as i’m finishing up my apple, i’m thinking about how when i go downtown to return some library books i might pick up some quiznos and then some coffee. i feel like a 14 year old teenage...

i uh...
don’t think i like game of thrones.
snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
it needs to stop. it’s super windy, but the roads are starting to clear so i think robbie and i are going up the road to get some tomato paste to make chili and cornbread. i’m currently persuading him to stop in the thrift store while we’re out.
life
because robbie and i have had little time together many of the meals (or lack there of) i’ve consumed have been what robbie has termed “sophisticated bachelor”. i realized a little while ago that the only thing i’ve eaten today is a bowl of cereal so i made myself a hot dog on sesame bread with melted swiss and alfalfa sprouts. this fancy hotdog seems to be a metaphor for...

welp
looks like i’m going to be doing paleobotanical research in my free time.
guess i'm going to campus?
there seems to be some confusion on my part about seeing the archaeology department. hopefully me showing up now was the intention.
today wil be filled with
today wil be filled with beer, baking and sewing. hopefully this will end with several pairs of pajama pants, a hat, and some beetles.
life
most of today was spent with robbie and i cleaning the mess out of this apartment (literally). we just ran downstairs in the snow to fill all of our complex’s washers with laundry before anyone could show up and complain. tonight, we were those assholes (it was payday yesterday so i couldn’t do laundry until now). tomorrow i’m taking another massive load of recyclables over to...
I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T POSTED ABOUT THIS
gay marriage is legal in washington! WAHOO!!!!! it goes into effect just before we were planning on a civil marriage this summer! we picked a good state to move to. however, if enough signatures are gathered to oppose it a public ballot will go out on it this november. we will totally fight for the right to get married if it comes down to it.
if it weren't so snowy
i would say i’d want to drive up to spokane saturday to see the secret world of arrietty because i feel like my chances to see a miyazki film in theatres during my lifetime are becoming progressively slimmer. that would also be a decent chunk of change, but spokane is fun and different and it’s nice to get out of the tiny town and visit the big city. however, i’ll probably be at...
whew
well, just e-mailed the professor i’d like to work with in the archaeology department here. hopefully this leads me down a wonderful path towards grad school. or at least doing some archaeology. i’m so tired of not doing archaeology.
lots of writing about yesterday and today
it’s warmer in spokane than here, so hopefully today’s shipment will arrive on time and i won’t have to come in at 6:30 tomorrow in the rain and snowy slush.
valentine’s day was fun. i worked all morning and afternoon, came home and made cupcakes for the entomology kids, surprised robbie with them and a card i made at his office, then he took me to go get a beer on campus...

i love ordering pizza over the internet.
especially when it’s buy one get one from pizza perfection. mmmmmmmmm.
finished another big sewing project (this time far more successfully). now i’m going to go pick up that pizza and soul caliber from redbox, then FINALLY start the laundry.
there were reported gun shots near my house, so i was advised not to leave until the police had properly investigated. apparently people were...
today (and yesterday)
found a pattern for some shorts i’m going to make with the thrifted fabric.
got fabric to make pj pants for my (really, robbie’s) sister. it of course has giraffes on it.
met a veg couple with bunnies at friend’s b-day get together. we and others talked about every “sensitive” topic we could come up with.
budgeted our finances for the next month.
now i’m...

I feel like I need to eat something covered in cheese.
And someone needs to make me some cupcakes.
if you do come work out here i can guarantee donuts, and maybe just for you because you’re just that awesome, cupcakes. so i guess i’ll agree to make you cupcakes. just… delayed cupcakes. (robbie can provide the cheese.)
i'm still confused
what’s wrong with birth control again (other than the fact that very few improvements have been made to it despite the need)?
complaining about people’s access to birth control in times of economic turmoil seems counter intuitive. if you’ve been complaining about people being on welfare, food stamps, etc. then why would you want less people to have the ability to stop unwanted...
today
-veg corn dog and french fries for lunch, followed by a fruit smoothie. -clean up this ‘messy’ apartment -drive to the doctor’s office and pick up the sock needle i left there yesterday -go to the library to pick up my books on hold -possibly buy some more fat quarters of the veggie fabric from the quilting shop to make place mats with -knit and study for the gre somewhere...
IT'S GOING TO BE 50 DEGREES TOMORROW?
on a day that i have off? this is unheard of. i will totally be going on all sorts of walks tomorrow!
i mean, robbie is going to judge a kid’s science fair in spokane on his way to a conference in oregon, but i get a 50 degree day in pullman!
he needs to magically have all the free time ever tonight so we can watch more doctor who so i don’t have to stare longingly at the dvd all...
